  • Can you get a single diff list across folders

I have two folders with subfolders containing text files.

I would like to create a single list that shows all the lines that are different.

Example usecase: The files have rows with requirement numbers and requirement text. I need to find all the requirements that have changed. There are many files so I don't want to have to go and look at each one to get the changed rows of text.

It is possible to do this.

Load the two folders in Beyond Compare.
    View|Expand All.
    Edit|Select All Files.
    Actions|File Differences Report.
In the Report Options, select Just Differences.

This will generate a single report listing different lines in all of the selected files.

      Hi

When I follow the steps, all I get is a list of the changed files with whatever columns I left selected from the options window. I can't figure out how I can be doing it incorrectly.

What you're describing sounds like the Actions|Folder Comparison Report. It will only list the names of files in the report.

If you use the Actions|File Differences Report command instead, it will include lines of text from the file contents in the report.
