  • Match files on date OR contents?

Sometimes when I compare directories, I would like it to show a match if two files compare equal either by date OR by contents. As far as I can tell, this can only be an AND condition: if either fails, it's a non-match. Is there a way to do this?

It isn't possible to do this with the current version of BC.

In the current version, content comparison (CRC, Binary, Rules-based) overrides timestamp results.

This means if content comparison is a match, the files display as a match regardless of the timestamp comparison result.

When only comparing timestamp and size, if timestamp or size is different, the files display as different.

To change the behavior of content comparisons overriding timestamp comparison, check "Independent timestamp, content comparison results". This will make a file with a content comparison match and timestamp difference show as a difference.
