How do I get Beyond Compare 2 to IGNORE FILESIZES
when doing its comparisons, and colouring up
the files and directories etc.

You can turn off size comparison in Session|Comparison Control.

Thanks - but is there a way to make filesize kick in if it is EXTREMELY different? (i.e. more different than could be accounted for by stray CR/LF differences between ASCII files!)

No, there isn't a way to set a tolerance for size comparison. In the current version, if the size has any difference BC will list the files as different. If you don't want to see a mismatch for small size differences, you'll have to turn size comparison off and use some other comparison criteria.
