  • Sync-ing - how to match on mod date not create dat

    Hi

Sorry to be dumb, but is there a way I can get my files to synchronise on when the content was modified not on when the file was physically created!

I am copying using binary. But whenever I upload a file from my PC the file date that comes up is the "now" date and then it says that the file I have just uploaded is more recent than the file on my PC. So in order to make the files match I then need to DOWNLOAD all the files that I had just UP loaded!

    What am I doing wrong?

This is probably a limitation of your FTP server. Many FTP servers don't support the command necessary to preserve timestamps on uploaded files. To work around this, you can have BC copy the timestamps back from the FTP server to your local files after upload. To do this, select Session|Comparison Control. Go to the Advanced tab. Check "Touch local files when copying to an FTP site".

If that isn't a good option for you, you can also make the sync command only copy files with content differences. First, turn off timestamp comparison in Session|Comparison Control. Then, change the sync settings in the Sync Options section of Tools|Options to copy files with content differences.
