  • Three way merging using two instances of BC?

Recently I hit a situation where I had no recourse but to do a three way merge. I figured a good way to do that would be to have BC compare files A and B; and then open another instance of BC and have it compare B and C.

Sadly that write-locked B. So I'd diff between A and B. Open BC comparing B and C. Then I'd close the BC comparing B and C. Rinse. Repeat.

Is there a better way to do something like this?

    I missed a step when I wrote ...

    It should have read ...

Sadly that write-locked B. So I'd diff between A and B. Open BC comparing B and C. Then I'd close the BC comparing B and C. Save B. Rinse. Repeat from "Open BC comparing B and C".

      Xtraeme,

There isn't a good way to do a three way merge in Beyond Compare 2. Beyond Compare 3 will include 3-way merge support. At this point it looks like we're 1-2 months away from a public beta for version 3.
