  • How to get error messages with /silent on Scripts

    Hello,
I am comparing 2 files in a script with the /silent switch on. If BC2 cannot find the files the output is blank. Is there a way to make the output report file indicate that file xxxx could not be found?

    thanks

Are you using the latest version of BC2 (2.5.3)?

You could use the log command at the beginning of your script to keep track of status messages.

Also, you can name the output file with the date using the %date% variable, then use the Beyond Compare Directory Viewer to look at all output files, then under File Filters, Other Filters: set a Size filter to either find only, or exclude 0 size files. Then the output file's name and size can be used to determine when it did not generate.

      Thanks.

      I have upgraded to BC3 (3.1.3) now.

I have added the following to the beginning of the script where %3 is the report output.
      log normal append:%3

This seems to work fine and ensures a report is produced when the file is not found.
