  • Multiple Sessions

    Hello all,

    I have build up several dozen session folder comparisons. Is there any way in which I can link several of them together to create another session for comparison?

    Is there a way to do this with 2.4.x or is this only available in 3.x (if it is)

    Kind regards,
    Belg

    Belgrath,

    It isn't possible to link multiple sessions in BC2 or BC3. If they share a parent folder, then using filters might work, as I described in response to your other post.

      In version 3, you can define a "workspace" containing many folder compare sessions. When you load the workspace, all the sessions will load (on separate tabs or windows).

        Hey this sounds interesting...

        how flexible are the folder comparisons in this workspace... essentially any number of folders, or do they need to be related under the same folder. Can you list me a specific path example? Would something like this be possible

        \\PC1\folderA\sub1 -----> \\PC2\folderB\sub2\suba
        \\PC2\folderB\sub1 -----> \\PC1\folderB\sub2\subb
        \\PC3\folderB\sub1\ -----> \\PC4\folderB\sub2
        \\PC2\folderC\sub1 -----> \\PC4\folderB\sub2

        And then by placing these various comparisons into one workspace a view>full refresh would show me all of the differences between in 1 summary.

        If BC3 can do that, I'll be upgrading...

        thanks ahead of time,
        Belg

          Hi Belg,

          Sorry, the workspaces just save the sizes/positions of all the distinct sessions. Unlike BC2 you can have multiple directory comparisons open at once, but it still only supports a single base folder per side in each session. The workspace doesn't tie them together or anything like that. Supporting multiple base folders is something we're hoping to add at some point, but it isn't in yet.
