1) Open a folder compare session with several folders inside the base folder on each side (I did this with two folders with the same tree structure).
2) Select a folder on one side of the comparison; ctrl-click to select a different folder on the other side (i.e. the two folders were not aligned).
3) Right click and select "open subfolders"
4) The selected folders flash briefly, then disappear. The only way I found to get them back was to close the parent folder, do a full refresh, and reopen the parent.
FWIW, the folders I used were non-empty, and contained a mix of identical and non-identical files.
