  • What exactly is Refresh supposed to do?

    Help says only

    Refresh Refreshes open folders.

    which surely must be incomplete.

Each of the eight Refreshes below (reported as "Fast refresh") failed to update the display of the DVD in E:, despite that Explorer showed it fine. Then I did Full refresh (reported as "Load comparison") which succeeded.

    Hello,

Fast Refresh should hit the disc drive and update the contents if you switch DVDs. What was the directory structure before and after the refresh? Can you reproduce the behavior?

Thanks. Then something is not as it should be here.

      > What was the directory structure before and after the refresh?

Before: empty - there had been no disc in the drive. After: root contains only 17 folders each containing approx 30 files and no folders

      > Can you reproduce the behavior?

      Yes:

        Hello chrisjj,

Ah. Alright. The difference in our two cases is I was swapping from a properly loaded disc to another ready to load disc.

In your case, you started with no disc in the drive, which results in that side of the comparison getting the error condition "Error Opening Folder". Error conditions are not normally cleared with a Fast Refresh, which is why the Full Refresh is currently required.

I'll create an entry on this to see if a Fast Refresh will work in all Error Opening Folder cases to see if we can get that added in.

          Actually not: http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/5003/piclh.png

I ejected the disc, loaded another and pressed F5 - red message in log, but no Error Opening Folder.

Perhaps if I'd waited longer before the press, it would have been OK.

Do you see the "Folder Not Available" error dialog appear when you attempt to load the new disc with F5, or when you initially load the session with no disc in the drive?
