  • Retain Selection on reload

I often want to copy the same file(s) to multiple-locations. It would be nice if the changing the path on one side did not reset the selection on the other side (please see this screencast).

Having to re-establish the file selection each time I change the target folder can be quite tedious, especially when the selection is more complex than the simple example in the above screencast.

Let me know if this works. One workaround I can think of:
-Take your selected files and Exclude them with Right-click->Exclude
-Edit your Filters: Move them from the Exclude list to the Include List.

This should then allow you to copy only those files, without needing to worry about a de-selection, in the current build.

The problem with some of your recommended "work-arounds" is the amount and effort it takes to accomplish something rather simple. I want to select a file, copy it, change target folder, copy same file, change target folder, copy same file again. In my opinion, I should not need to set filters to do something this basic.

        Michael,

We certainly understand your request and agree that it's a good idea, but actually implementing it is far from trivial, and it's definitely not going to get in soon. Aaron's just giving you the best workarounds he can given the current functionality.

Thanks guys. I guess we have some things to look forward to in a future 3.x or 4.x version of BC.

Have you tried the context menu-based "copy to folder"?

No. That would eliminate the ability to compare sides and validate other contents while copying. I might as well copy and paste using Windows explorer...

Good point, Michael -- sorry, I didn't see the big picture.
