No problem on jumping in, Michael. If some newer users haven't seen your suggestion and would like to comment here, please feel free. I've added these notes to the wishlist entry on the subject.

I hesitated on jumping in on this thread because of my many suggestions for more versatile select options in the past. I have never liked using the Shift+Arrow work-around to perform a Select All on just one side of the compare. In my opinion, the right-click context menu for either side of the folder compare would do well to have a group of select options:

    Select All Files
    Select All Folders
    Select All Orphans
    Select Newer
    etc.

Since the context is the side the user clicked on, these options would create side-specific selections. If clicking on the area between the two sides, the same options could be available and could be applied to both sides.

Which operations dialogs are you using that you are having trouble with?

Thanks. Though not not all other operation dialogs do.

    Thanks and noted, Chrisjj.

Another workaround: the Delete dialog lets you select which side you want to act on. If both sides are selected (using the Mouse or menu commands), you can then use the mouse to uncheck a side in the Delete dialog to prevent it from being deleted.

Seconded. That would also solve the problem that currently the workaround is available for keyboard only i.e. not mouse.

Hi Tim, thanks for the help. That shortcut does just what I need it to do, I'll remember for when this comes up again. Keep up the good work!

It's a bit obscure but there's a way to shift a selection to one side or the other. Hold the Shift key down and press Left Arrow or Right Arrow to "move" the selection left or right.

    Small 'Select All' improvement request

Hi, I just had cause to use BC3 to isolate all of the non-orphaned files (ie. duplicates) in a pair of folders, so that I could delete them from one folder.

Setting up the filtering to get this to work was easy, however selecting just the files on the left hand side was not. I had to use 'select all files' and then shift-click the files on the right to delect them. This was a bit of a clumsy way of doing things.

So I'd like to request a new feature for the "Select All" and "Select All Files" menu options - can we have equivalent sub-menus for Left/Right/Both as seen on the Select Orphans menus? That way we can create filters how we like them and have an easy way to select all results.

Sorry if this has been suggested already,

    Regards,
    David
