  • Network issues

I have a slow network connection o a location that has a share I wan to sync with.

BC is great for this and normally it will keep trying if the network connection gets dropped for a second and then it will pick up and finish. But many times it wont. Just gives errors that the network name is no longer available and that it failed to copy items. So then I have to keep going back in and right clicking the file and saying copy.

It is taking me forever. Is there a setting or something I can do so instead of just failing the BC tool picks up where it left off? Or a setting I can do to have it check for the network for a longer amount of time or something?

    Thanks,
    Terry

If you're accessing a Windows shared network drive, there aren't any settings in Beyond Compare that you can change. If you're connecting to an FTP server, you can adjust settings on a per-server basis in the "Tools > FTP Profiles" dialog.

Thanks. A feature request by me would be to incorporate some sort of restart capability into things, like BITS. It sucks when it is 99% done copying a huge file then dies and I have to start it over again 50 times. Thanks.

Resuming file copies/syncs is already on the infamous customer wish list.

Thanks, Michael. It doesn't hurt to add some more details and notes to it.
