FAT32>NTFS 1hr difference

To clarify though, were the timestamps off immediately after you did the copy, or did you do the copy before the switch, and are comparing them again now?

The option ignores any timestamp differences that are exactly equal to the DST offset, in either direction. Whether that's 30, 45, or 60 minutes depends on your computer's settings.

Actually I think you are wrong there Aaron. "Ignore daylight saving difference" is enabled when a user wants to ignore daylight saving difference. If indeed it does ignore ALL differences of 1 hr, then I suggest the label be corrected.
Meanwhile I'll take it there's no solution for this FAT32>NTFS timestamp difference, so I shall take the hit of a 410Gb Compare Contents.
Thanks.

Hello Chris,
We have an article that goes into more detail on this behavior here. FAT systems and NTFS systems calculate the timestamp differently, and you will need to Ignore or Fix the timestamp.

You should notice the same timestamp behavior if you use My Computer or Windows Explorer.
The Ignore daylight savings option is working as intended. It defaults to Off, and it only enabled when a user wants to ignore changes of exactly 1 hour.

FAT32>NTFS 1hr difference
Sync from FAT32 to NTFS has left the destination filestamps one hour behind the source. Is there any way to get Compare to correct for this and this only? IIUC 'Ignore daylight saving difference' does not - it (dangerously) ignores 1hr in both directions (please tell me if I am wrong).
Thanks.Last edited by chrisjj; 30-Nov-2010, 04:47 AM.Tags: None
