  • Filters...what am I doing wrong?

[SOLVED] It appears that if entering the filters directly in the Filters box on the toolbar, you then use a minus sign in front of items you want to exclude.
However, if you enter your filters from the 'Rules/Name Filters' window, then you just simple enter files or folders to be excluded or included in the proper sub-window, WITHOUT using a minus sign. That was my error. After fact, it now seems quite logical of course
Additionally, you don't need to add the asterisk before a file/folder name, only when you want to exclude all files with a specific extension. Probably pretty obvious to most but I'm a novice so it might be helpful to other newbies.

I want to filter out a certain number files and extensions (desktop.ini, Thumbs.db, .sfv) from the comparison so I did as you see below, yet they are not filtered out?
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thx!

The prefix "." in front of the file name you have is literal, so that would not match on "desktop.ini" but would match on ".desktop.ini", where the * would then allow for any characters in front of that.

I think you could use "thumbs.db" by itself, but if you need the prefix *, it would be "*thumbs.db", etc. How does that work for you?

Geez...I should really troubleshoot a bit more before posting. Even that is too stupid by my standards! Thx for putting me straight and sorry for wasting your time
      Cheers!

No worries. I appreciate the full screen screenshot, which helped me see it quickly so I don't consider it a waste of my time at all. Glad I could help get you up and running; sometimes it just takes that second pair of eyes.
