i don't know when FTP last worked because i haven't used it in a while. i might have updated Beyond Compare since the last time it worked. i get the following log and an eventual timeout. it has worked fine for years. cuteFTP works fine. any ideas? should i uninstall the latest version? would rather not. i do not see anything in the config for FTP that can be changed?

Try turning on Passive Mode transfers (PASV). In BC2 it's on the FTP->Firewall/Proxy Settings options page. In BC3 it's in the FTP Profiles dialog on the "Connection" tab. If that doesn't help please post a log showing a successful connection using CuteFTP.

      ftp stopped working

that fixed it. any idea why the need to change this setting after years of no problems? could a recent update have changed the setting or might my isp have changed their ways? great to have BC back as my FTP client.

BC2 has always defaulted to active transfers, so it isn't due to an update. The issue usually crops up due to changes in firewall/router settings, though it's possible your ISP modified their FTP server in some way too.
