  • MVS FTP

I cannot my previous post so I am reposting.

I need to FTP files to MVS particular data set but I do not want to the data set to have my userid in the name, i.e. I need to look at x.y.z instead of userid.x.y.z. Has anyone do this, if so how.

    Hi Claude,

You must enclose your destination name in single quotes. Like this:

    ftp://[email protected]/'SYS1.'

The trailing period will show everything AFTER the SYS1 high level qualifier.

How do I FTP a file in ASCII mode instead of Binary mode?

Under Tools->FTP Profiles, select your profile, and go to the Transfer tab. Under the Transfer Type section here, it can be set to Auto, ASCII, or Binary, once you uncheck "Use Default".

You can also add specific files' names or extensions to the ASCII Types list.
