Hello,
This is done by performing a selection of some files, or everything (Ctrl+A, or the Edit menu -> Select All, or the toolbar button for selection). Then use the Toolbar button Compare Contents (also in the Actions menu and the Right-click menu) on the selection.
This will launch the Content Compare dialog as long as it has not been previously disabled.*
Here you can pick to run a content scan: CRC, Binary, or Rules-based.
*If it has been disabled, you can re-enable it in the Tools menu -> Options dialog, Folder Views, Confirmations section: "Confirm content compare" enabled.

How does one run this manual content compare you speak of, which displays a progress bar?

Hello,
We do not normally show a progress bar or log information for a background task, but adding more detail is on our wishlist. If you'd like, you can run the Content Compare command manually, which does cause a progress bar to be displayed. How does this work for you?

BC3: option to log current file being tested when comparing S/FTP tree
Hello,
maybe I've missed it, but when comparing a large folder tree via SFTP I often wish to know what BC is "doing" -- which file it's comparing etc. I would like to see this detail in the log if possible.
e.g.
10/29/2012 11:38:33 AM Current Folder: /root
10/29/2012 11:38:33 AM Comparing file1.conf ... CRC match
10/29/2012 11:38:37 AM Comparing file2.conf ... date mismatch, <-- newer
10/29/2012 11:38:37 AM Comparing file3.conf ... CRC match
etc
Is something like this possible?
thank you!Tags: None
