With build 445, Cirrus apparently checked for an update (the Last Check string showed today's date) but there was no alert that I noticed. (I went right into Tools/Options without really looking at the rest of the GUI.)

Then I did a manual check from the help menu and the update was found. I let it do the downloading and installation, and it worked flawlessly. However, there probably needs to be either a separate, permanent link to a revision history (or at least "what's new" for the current build) or, maybe even better, an optional display of the history at the conclusion of the installation.

Will watch to see how build 446 does now that it's set to a daily check.

    Good point.

    Update here worked without problem.

    However, two minor implementation "issues"...

    1) The fact that there's a new version appears to be displayed only in the upper right corner of the page. Nice as it doesn't get in the way, but some people may not notice it there. (Maybe display a reminder dialog box with an option to not display it for future updates?).

    2) When done updating, no option to immediately re-open BC. I started BC for a reason and still need to use it. Would be nice to not have to re-start it manually.

I too was able to update (after the executing temp file of size 0 was "fixed") without any problems.

again, almost same here, except I got prompted to quit and install both times, but but only saw the download progress dialog the second time around.

and i don't think bc3 got re-opened (much less where i left it when i got prompted to quit and install)... maybe i got spoiled by other programs i'm using, but i kind of got used to "being returned" to whatever i was doing prior to being prompted for upgrade.

We thought we'd made a mistake with the release and took the downloads offline for a few minutes soon after the announcement. Looks like we need to improve the error handling if the update isn't actually available.

I tried check for update again and this time I first saw a download progress bar and then I was asked if I wanted to quit and install. Everything worked great. I wonder what happened the first time.

    Check for update

I selected check for update and was informed that there was an update available. It quit BC3 and opened a command prompt window (C:\DOCUME~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\BC3UPD~1.EXE). The window has a blinking cursor, but it's not doing anything else (been like this for about 15 minutes).

I think that I have the non-debug version installed on my machine, so there might not be any good information available.
Working...
