  • BC 3.0.7 Overwrite read-only from zip archive fails

Using a Folder Compare in BC 3.0.7, an attempt to copy a read-only file from a zip archive and overwrite a newer copy of the same read-only file on the local hard drive fails with the message "Unable to copy <filename>: Cannot create file <filename>. Access is denied".

This copy succeeds in BC 2.5.3. In BC 3.0.7, the copy succeeds if the source is another folder on the hard drive but fails if the source is a zip archive.

Details: A zip file contains a backup copy of a read-only file. A folder on the local hard drive contains a newer copy of the same read-only file. Open a Folder Compare in BC 3.0.7 with the zip archive on one side and the hard drive folder on the other side. Select the older file in the zip archive and choose 'Copy to Left' (or 'Copy to Right') from the context menu. Answer Yes in the Confirm File Replace dialog when promted to overwrite a newer file, and answer Yes when prompted to confirm you want to overwrite a read-only file. The copy then fails with an 'Access is denied' message.
