  • Command line option for no difference dialog

Source control diff tools often display an OK dialog when there is no difference between revisions. I'm using beyond compare as my diff tool with my current source control tool and it takes me longer to tell if there are any changes because I have to glance around the window to gather clues. I'd like to be able to get a dialog that just says something like "No difference", otherwise open the tool if there is a difference.

    Thanks,
    Joe

In the Options dialog, on the Startup tab, check for the "When starting with file comparison, show quick compare dialog" option. Out of the box it does a binary comparison and opens the viewer automatically for differences, so you'll only see the "No Difference" dialog for files that are binary equivalent.

      Hi Craig,

I think that will do what I want.

      Thanks,
      Joe
