I do see that this has been requested before. Let me add a vote for it.

Copies and content comparisons on big drives can take a full day to complete, and if other transfers become necessary in the meantime it can cause wicked thrashing especially on a USB external drive.
I'm surprised that BC is at v3 without such a basic command, but if there's a workaround I've missed it.
