  • Problems with Zips

I've been using Beyond Compare for many years with very few issues. In the last month or so, I have just started having problems with zips where Beyond Compare has added files. SharpZip doesn't seem to be able to extract files that were added by Beyond Compare. It gives the following error:
"Libray cannot extract this entry version required (2836)"

I believe this problem just started with the latest version 3.1.3. I suppose it could be the result of a windows patch as well. The same application works fine with identical zips created by 7zip.

The problem was introduced in 3.1, when we switched zip libraries. The next release (3.1.4) will have the problem fixed and should be out very soon.

I upgraded to 3.1.4 but am still have problems with the zips created by Beyond Compare. I'm now getting a different error,
Illegal characters in path. at System.IO.Path.CheckInvalidPathChars(String path)

And like before, zips created with different programs work fine.

Sorry about that. Along with the fix for SharpZip there were some other changes related to filenames and they broke certain cases. I've tested the zips produced with our upcoming 3.1.5 release in WinZip and they're no longer reporting any problems.
