  • forum search doesn't work

I was trying to search on a few terms, among them "mac", and always got no results. However "mac" shows up in the tag cloud, and there is a whole long forum thread on BC for Mac. Seems like the search function isn't working right.

Also - having to type in words to get your search to execute is rather unfriendly, even offensive. Does your search require so much resources that you have to slow down (and annoy) users by forcing them to type a captcha in another field?

I agree--especially when you have to try numerous searches to find what you need. But it looks like the phrase is not required for logged in users. Did you check to see if you were still logged in during the search?

My complaint is I don't see any search help. Is it there and I just missed it? The main thing I'd like to know is syntax for searching on ALL or ANY key words or exact phrase. (Search engines don't alway use the same syntax.) It would be nice to have a drop down list that includes ANY ALL or EXACT options.

      Hello,

We use vBulletin forum software, and the search is powered by that software. Searching the FAQ link (in the top toolbar), I found this article:

Does that help give some of the answers you were looking for?

        Hello,

vBulletin's search is not always the greatest if you only search for a very short word. Try to narrow your search with the Advanced controls.

Also, the captcha should not be required if you are logged in once your account has been approved. It can sometimes take a day for this to happen after your first post.
