  • Network Name No Longer Available Error

I'm not sure if this is a BC3 issue or not, but it appears that it may be.

Doing a sync from a Win7 (relatively new install) via the network to a XP machine I'm getting the following error on some files:

(path & file name)...The specified network name is no longer available.

Any thoughts on what's going on?

I've seen this too. In my case, my theory is that it happens with large files being transferred across a wireless network connection. If the wireless signal dips below a critical level for long enough, and "long enough" could be a very short period of time, then the error occurs.

    Regards, AB

Another thing to try (in addition to aussieboykie's idea) is to use the IP address of the machine instead of the name.

Windows Networking is not always reliable when using the computer name \\computername\folder. For troubleshooting purposes, see if \\ip\folder works better for you.

Also, are you able to reproduce these errors at will? Can they be reproduced in Windows Explorer / My Computer?
