how can i compare specific columns of two files? is there a way to pick and choose?

Hi Conde,

If your files are tab delimited or comma separated files, the best way to compare them is in the BC3 Data Compare. Once you open the files in the Data Compare, select "Session > Session Settings". In the "Columns" tab you can rearrange columns to specify which column on the left matches with a column on the right. You can also double click on a column and check "Unimportant" to ignore differences in a column.

If you compare files in the Text Compare, you can mark some columns of text unimportant to ignore their differences. Instructions are at the following link: http://www.scootersoftware.com/suppo...mportantv3.php
