  • Scalability on the server

We're evaluating the tool to be used on our application servers for server-side comparison of PDF files and generation of automated comparison reports in HTML.

General question to the crowd: is this a reasonable thing to do with the tool? Does its execution scale well on the servers using the command line interface? PDF's are typically either small ones (1mb in size) or larger ones (15-20mbs in size) and estimate no more than 50 or so concurrent comparisons going on at any given time per server.

    Thanks,
    Igor Papirov

    Hello,

First, our trial is fully featured. You can test any particular workflow with out trial version, available here. The only limit is our time limit.
    http://www.scootersoftware.com/download.php

Graphically, you can load two directories side by side. Beyond Compare can then compare the aligned files (default set to align based on directory structure and file name) by comparison criteria. By default, this criteria is timestamp and size, but can also be configured to do a more detailed scan (binary, crc, or rules-based). A rules-based scan will compare the text of your pdf files, but not the pictures. You can see what this would compare by double clicking on a pair of files and viewing them in the Text Compare session type.

How were you hoping to use our Command Line interface?
