Public key agent authorization failed

Hi,

I get "Public key agent authorization failed" in logs very frequently even though I am not using the key authorization. Why is it attempting to validate the key if I provide the password for my "sftp" profiles.

Hello,

Our key setup is global, so we attempt to use the key if you have one setup. If that fails, we fall back to the password prompt. Would this explain the behavior you are seeing?

Thanks Aaron, I see that my "Private Key file" & "Passphrase" are empty. Still? However I set them once but now I removed it.

If you have PuTTY's pageant running it will try to authenticate using keys stored there before trying the private key in the Authentication tab or a password. Is it causing problems for you, or is it just confusing?

I don't have pageant running. Don't use Putty that frequently. It's not causing a problem as such it's just that I thought it'll an extra step which in turn might be affecting the performance.

Are you launching it from Cygwin? It will use OpenSSH's ssh-agent too, if it's available. If neither of those is running you really shouldn't see anything about the public key agent; it's designed to be used if it's available and ignored otherwise.

I use ZOC to make ssh connections to few hosts. And it' uses it's "sshsession" executable for making ssh connections. Not sure that it's causing it though.

Ok, sorry for the confusion. It turns out BC will show the "Public key authentication failed" message even if you don't have a public key agent running. You can ignore it until I fix it. BC won't find an agent, so it doesn't try to authenticate anything. Nothing is sent to the server, so it won't affect your login speed at all.

Looks like this is still happening... I just installed 3.2.4 and was surprised to see this new message (upgraded from 3.1.something), when I don't have any public key agent running.
