Aaron missed an important letter in his reply. The "View in Browser" button can now be accessed using Alt+V. All of those buttons have Alt+Letter shortcuts in v4.

Aaraon, I'm talking about this one -

Would appreciate if we could assign some keyboard shortcut to "View in Browser" like Alt+V (or customizable). Also can we have a direct "Save as" shortcut which overwrites a report files every time we use it.

    Hello,

The Text Compare Report's View In Browser button can no be accessed with Alt+V. Of note, our BC4 trial is fully featured, and on Windows it will not remove or alter your BC3 install. If you'd like to give it a spin, feel free to install and try it out before any purchase is necessary, and you can still use your BC3 install for day to day work.

Hi Aaron, any chances it can be implemented in BC4?

Thanks for the feedback; I'll pass the idea on to add accelerator keys to one of our developers.

Why do you think "View in Browser" would be a better default? The reports are intended to be hard copies, and you already have the comparison visible in the main window. Changing it would be the same as making "Print Preview" the default instead of "Print".

That what I did eventually. Thanks Aaron!
Anything on 2nd point in my original post -
    2. I think making "View in Browser" as default button than "Save As..." in Text Compare Report Dialog would make more sense. Any comments?

    Hello,

BC3 does not currently have the ability to add it as a toolbar button, but you can assign it to a hotkey combination from the Folder Compare's Tools menu -> Customize Commands.

How would that work for you?

    Thanks Christoph,

But my concern is more towards the "Text Compare Report" Toolbar Button to have at Folder Compare dialog which I could use for multiple Text compares in one go.

    Hi NeOnD,

Is it possible to have "Text Compare Report" button in Toolbar?
    Yes it is!

But it's important that you open a "Text Compare" Session first. In this context you can choose the "Tools -> Customize Commands..." menu.
Scroll down until you see "Text Compare Report" entry and select it. Now you can activate the "Show command in toolbar" check-box.

Yes yes, that's the dilemma with the context sensitive "Customize Commands..." dialog. Unless you know that you must have the correct session opened, several entries seem to be missing.
Formerly I suggested to make it more clear in that dialog by using tabs for each session type which are always accessible (independent from the currently opened session type) ...

    Bye
    Christoph
