  • XML Compare, possible in BC3 ?

We have a challenge, in that machine generated xml often has one small change, but the text lineup is impossible to diff in BC.

I see there are xml diff tools, that really diff the structural differences of the xml.

    Can BC help us here?

    thx!!

BC can only compare XML files as text, but you can download an add-on to format the XML files before they are compared.

The add-on is the XML tidied file format, you can download it here:
Beyond Compare is a multi-platform utility that combines directory compare and file compare functions in one package. Use it to manage source code, keep directories in sync, compare program output, etc.

      Thanks!

Text compare does not help us. We need a real "xml property" compare....

There seem to be some tools that do this...

Search the world's information, including webpages, images, videos and more. Google has many special features to help you find exactly what you're looking for.

In most cases, one of the additional formats (which sort the xml nodes in various ways for comparison) can be used to compare XML properties. It is not in a collapsible node view, but it should find the differences you are looking for; did you get a chance to try some of the additional downloads?

If you are still having any trouble, please feel free to post or send in a pair of example files to [email protected]

          FYI,

Beyond Compare is a multi-platform utility that combines directory compare and file compare functions in one package. Use it to manage source code, keep directories in sync, compare program output, etc.

I had no idea what to do with the downloaded file... had to dig around in help...

Would be helpful if this web page gave directions:

          - how to install
          - how to use

The main page for file formats describes how to install them:

fwiw, the above plugins do not seem to be useful (at least not for what I am trying to diff)

Next stop: MS xmldiff tool, altova xml diff tool...
