  • Can BC3 save CRCs for each file separately and manage them centrally?

Is it possible to calculate the CRCs of files, save each of them one by one (in a central folder, e.g. c:\crcs\) and then however I move files around on the hard disk BC3 would know the CRC without a need to calculate them again.

So far I use BC2, but calculating hundreds of gigabytes takes too long.

    Hello,

Saving a CRC would not necessarily mean the file has remained unchanged. Once copied, or even while just sitting there, it would be possible an external force could corrupt the file and change the CRC code.

If you would like to generate the codes and save them as a specific snapshot in time, you can use our Snapshot tool to create a virtual copy of the folder and store the CRC codes. You posted in the BC3 forum, which would use the Tools -> Snapshot command. You also mention BC2, which has the Snapshot command in the Directory Viewer's Action menu.

A snapshot can be compared against another snapshot or real directory.
