  • Can't always undo

I would like to always be able to undo any change I make to a file while it is still open. This seems to work as expected except for when a refresh is done.

For example, if I am comparing two files, make a change to one and save it (without exiting), I can then undo that change. But if I press F5 after saving it, no previous changes can be undone.

Is there a way to allow undo's to work after a refresh?

    Using 3.3.4

Not in the current version of Beyond Compare. Undoing after a Save is a new feature we added in BC3. When performing a refresh, it is similar to closing and re-opening the files again. The Undo-stack currently cannot support undoing after that action; if it were to support it in the future, it could only support it if nothing changed between the refreshed files and the old appearance.

OK. In that case, is there a way to realign the contents of the two windows without saving and refresh?

Yes. You can select everything on the left (ctrl+a), right click and Align With, then select everything on the right. This adds the alignment step to the Undo stack.
