  • Auto-complete in search

When searching for text (Search -> Find...) I shouldn't have to hit the Delete key before hitting the Enter key. A good auto-complete will list alternates in a drop-down but NOT stick the text in the field where I'm typing. This forces everybody to hit the Delete key after typing their text, every time they search. It's R-word.

When you Search > Find, it will prefill the Find dialog with text at the current cursor position. The text is selected, so you don't need to hit Delete, if you start typing it will replace the selected search text.

This behavior matches both Visual Studio 2019 and Notepad++.
