  • Compare text selections within a single file

I often want to compare selections of code within the same file.

Is there a way to do this in BC?

Even better, is there a way to use BC to do this from Visual Studio 2010?

You can open a file in one side, then copy and paste text from the file into the other pane.

Once you've pasted in text, right click on a line and use the "Align with" command to force sections to line up that you want to compare.

I don't think Visual Studio provides an easy way to launch a comparison of the same text or clipboard text. However, you can configure BC as a diff and merge tool:
Beyond Compare is a multi-platform utility that combines directory compare and file compare functions in one package. Use it to manage source code, keep directories in sync, compare program output, etc.
