10721 Suggestion: remedy MP3 Compare locks files

I find that MP3 Compare (unlike e.g. Text Compare) locks files against writes in other apps. Even files way smaller than any reasonable buffer size e.g. 3Kb. Surely there's no good reason for this. Could it be remedied? Thanks.

Please check again. The MP3 Compare in 3.1.6 does have code that locks the file, but the Data Compare does not.
Of course, the files are locked when loading or saving them.

You can use a program like Unlocker to determine which application has a lock on the file.

So does DC load even big files entirely into memory?

It doesn't keep them in memory; it streams them to a temporary file in order to unlock the original file.
