  • Ignore a line in a text compare

I recently discovered Beyond Compare and am testing it out. So far very impressed! Congrats!

I am seeking to compare two text files (pdfs) yielding excellent results. Following the analysis, I want to go in and examine the results choosing to ignore some differences found. However, by selecting "Ignored" I am ignoring the whole section and not uniquely the line I have selected. Any work-arounds?

    Much appreciated!

To Ignore only a specific difference or line, you'll need to select it specifically (click and drag the green selection). If you right click into a Section without selecting, then the whole Section is Ignored.

Ignored is a state that will only persist for the current view. Would you like to more permanently ignore these types of changes? You will want to define a custom File Format (or edit or clone an existing) and define a grammar element to match on the text you wish to Ignore. We have a KB article and video here:
Beyond Compare is a multi-platform utility that combines directory compare and file compare functions in one package. Use it to manage source code, keep directories in sync, compare program output, etc.
