Ctrlr-S when one side changed

In BC2, there was no edit in place, so it was easy to change the current compare pane, and then do a Ctrl-S. In BC3, with live editing, this is not quite as easy.

Consider comparing a file, copy difference from left to right using Ctrl-R (the left side is the default selected side), then try to save the change with Ctrl-S... it does nothing becuase the left side has not changed.

Could the Ctrl-S apply to either pane if only one is currently changed? (this is mostly relevant when just using the keyboard)

Thanks for the suggestion.

We do have a hotkey for switching panes (alt+arrow key left or right). Which way were you using to quickly/easily switch with BC2?

If you are simply copying lines from one side to the other, then disable full edit mode (use the F2 keyboard toggle or click the pencil icon on the toolbar.) Keypresses will then be more like BC2 (arrow keys will change sides without the Alt modifier, etc.)

I'm not sure that most users would want Ctrl+S to automatically save the side that does not have focus without, at least, a confirmation dialog.

Another possibility, however, could be to add a new "Save All" function like some editors have (UltraEdit for one). Add a keyboard shortcut (Alt+Ctrl+S for example) and you would have the functionality Warren is looking for without impacting Ctrl+S for other users.

I have just been using the left/right arrow keys to change the comparison pane that has focus. As suggested, disabling full edit does give me the old behaviour I was used to, but I also like the Alt+Ctrl+S idea.

Thanks for the suggestion. The 'Save Both' feature is already on our wishlist, and I've appended your request to it.
