  • 9222 Next Difference Section erroneously unavailable

Next Difference Section can be erroneously unavailable e.g. see attached.

Almost as if the logic tops out after 256 sections...

Based on your screenshot, I'd say that "Next Difference Section" is behaving correctly. I think you may be confused about the definition of a "section". It is a contiguous range of differences. In your files, it doesn't look like there are any same lines to split up the differences into multiple sections.

I'll confess to going only by the official docs

Agreed - I'd assumed that the "section" of Help's "the next section of mismatched text" was within a side. Evidently not - thanks.

I wonder if there are enough users wanting the same to warrant an option.

The definition of a "section" is the same as it was in BC2 which has been out for years.

Using the Text Merge for your files might work for you because it's definition of section is more like what your looking for.

I guess you could include the BC2 docs with BC3... but it would surely be better to include this definition in the BC3 Help.

Thanks - sounds promising, but I find no difference. E.g. Next Difference Section doesn't see boundaries between adjacent Important Left/Right Change and Important Different Change sections. No fun for heavy Text Mergers either.

In the Text Merge, conflict forces different types of changes to be a single section. You'll need to get rid of the conflict for "Next/Previous Difference" to behave.
