  • How to compare text files on line (NOT word) level?

When I compare currently 2 text files then tey are compared on word line.

This leads to a curious situation where lines which are perfectly match later in the files are forced to be matchable at the beginning.

Is there a way to tell BC to try matching on line level?

Two quick things you can try. Open Text Compare Session Settings. You can try the Alternate method of alignment to see if it works any better. If not, you can try checking the "Never align differences" checkbox.

It sounds like you want to increase the alignment algorithm. Michael has a few suggestions you can try; the Session Settings are available by opening the Text Compare, then going to the Sesison menu -> Session Settings: Alignment tab.

      You can also send:
      - a pair of example files
      - your support package (Help menu -> Support; Export)
      - a link to this forum post
      - a screenshot showing the issue

to [email protected] and we can also try to help with different alignment settings.
