  • HTML: What's the significance of grammar item String?

I don't know of any HTML component this corresponds to.

    Thanks.

    Hello Chris,

Our HTML file format is also associated with *.asp by default. All rules also also customizable, so if you want to change it you are welcome to.

Is that to say that HTML format String has no significance for HTML files?

Nope. Just that HTML files (extension *.html) can often contain other information. A Href="url" uses a string to denote the web address, and checking the source of Google.com shows the use of quotes in several other places. *.asp files have defined String definitions as well.

It is our default. If you feel you can better compare your files by changing it, please do so. If you have an example of why we should change the default behavior, please feel free to present it.

.ASP files are not .HTML files. I would feel happier if the HTML format covered only .HTML files.

Then you are welcome to split them up. Simply remove *.asp from the extension, clone the HTML rule, and redefine it. We are aware of file format limitations in nested languages (such as html and php), and have a wishlist entry open to improve the behavior.

If you have a specific example of why we should switch the default, please feel free to present it. We haven't had any other complaints with the current handling of asp and html, so we would like to know how it is an issue.
