  • Char Encoding Detect error

    Hello,

    BC 3.1.10 11626,XP SP3 Chinese.
Tools.FileFormat.Conversion.Encoding.Detect detect wrong for some text files with chinese chars.
    Supplied a Test.Txt
When I use BC3.TextCompare to show test.txt, BC3 will detect it as Turkish(Windows).(Which is wrong, it should be Chinese)
But if I edit test.txt by delete some content, e.g. delete last line, then BC3 will detect as ANSI under which will show correct Chinese chars.
I have tried some other deletes, some will show wrong, some will show right.
(e.g. if I delete "1f78d1ddf7c676ae9cfa7bc5937a3378 " in line 1 ,it will show wrong,
but I also delete "6906956d7dd55bed4df77a78fff317ce " in line 2, it will show right)

    Thanks,
    TigerAll

Thanks for the example file. We'll look into different ways we can try to improve this. In the meantime, you can manually override the encoding using the status bar, or the Session menu -> Session Settings -> Format tab.
