saves me a LOT of extra clicking - I'm comparing a large .NET project that I know has almost every file with changes but only some need to be moved from the other side.

In that case use the View->Show All menu item. It's also on the toolbar with an asterisk icon.

No I don't want it to colapse the view at all - I want the way the file compare used to look with the complete file visible and the option to colapse it but default to expand all

Are you talking about the smaller lines that show "123 filtered lines"? If so, go into the Options dialog, and on the "Text" page there's a "Show filtered line counts" checkbox in the "Display" group.

how do you turn this sucker OFF?
I know it is a good thing but I want to be able to quickly scan the 2 files side by side like it always has been before.
