Please consider the following:
After performing a gutter click and drag to select a contiguous block of lines on one side of a text compare, I would like to be able to right-click on the selected lines and choose Text Compare Report from the context menu to create a text compare report that contains only that block of lines and what is aligned with it on the other side.
In my current effort, I am comparing database schema’s that have been dumped to text files. These files are over 32,000 lines long with differences (some important, some not) sprinkled throughout the files. As I’m working my way through the file, I would like to send off several mini text compare reports to the printer to hand off to other people to reconcile. I don’t want to print all 32,000 lines; I don’t want to ignore unimportant differences; and I don’t want to hide lines that are the same in the sections I print. I could preview the text compare report and only print select pages of it, but it takes 15 to 20 seconds to render the preview and it is very difficult to locate pages I want to print since there is no find feature in the print preview dialog.
In this screenshot you will noticed that I gutter clicked and dragged to select lines 98 through 126 on the left. I would like to print a test compare report of just these lines and what aligns with them on the other side. Today there is no easy way to do this. This feature request would be one that is close to the top of my personal wishlist.
