Well, I find the copy and paste workaround quicker in general.

Again, suggestion: add line counts to the status bar.

Then we've already answered your question. The quickest way to get the line counts is by opening the Text Compare Info dialog and doing some simple math.

The lines counts that I want are the ones I asked for:

...line quantity in Show Differences and in Show Same
which, as I said, I currently get by select all, copy and paste to a text editor.

Could you post a pair of example files
    I hope this will suffice:

    Left 8, right 9.

    Hello Chris,

If you don't want the line counts regardless of filter (tlscales suggestion) or the line quantity of a filter (my latest suggestion), which line count do you want? Could you post a pair of example files or email us a pair of example files and your latest Support.zip (please also include a link back to this forum post if you email us)? Let us know which Display Filters you have set and what line count you would like to see appear on the bottom of the screen.

Not the ones I'm asking about.

Again, I suggest they be added to the status bar. Thanks.

The Text Compare Info, Statistics Report, and Summary report all show the line counts, but not the total Differences per side. For that you would need to add:
All Differences + Orphans for the Side you are interested in

    For your example above:
    2 ignored unimportant difference line(s)
    1 important right orphan line(s)
    97 important difference line(s)

    2 difference section(s)
    The Left side would be:
    97 + 0
and the Right side would be:
    97 + 1

Thanks, but that doesn't show these line quantities.

Thanks, but that tells me the last line number on each side. Not the line quantity.

    Hello Chris,

For per side statistics, you could use our Text Compare Statistics Report.

Go to the bottom of the compare and look at the last line number on each side. Of course, this only works if you have line numbers turned on.

Thanks, but it doesn't do that on e.g. this compare, where the line qty for Show Differences is left 97 and right 98, and Show Same is 2. Text Compare Info says:

    2 ignored unimportant difference line(s)
    1 important right orphan line(s)
    97 important difference line(s)

    2 difference section(s)
So I guess it's not possible. Suggestion: add line counts to the status bar.

... in Show Differences and in Show Same?

Not "looking at that status bar" I find, surprisingly.

Currently my workaround is select all, copy and paste to a text editor.

    Thanks.
