  • 13298 Clipboard international char sort failure

Text Compare "Sorted" file format mis-sorts international characters on clipboard e.g. O umlaut before A here http://imageshack.us/m/813/1963/textfail.gif .

This on Win XP, English (UK).

    Workaround: use Data Compare http://imageshack.us/m/34/8782/dataok.gif

    Hello,

Our Sort file format simply uses the Windows "Sort" command. You can type "sort /?" on the command line for a full list of arguments and help.

If you are familiar with another sort program, please let us know and we may be able to incorporate it into an additional File Format.

A brave decision - that could well explain the bug.

If it is a bug, it would be with Windows Sort. Do you see the same behavior if you use the Sort program from the command line?

I'm not using Windows Sort. If BC is, that's BC's responsibility, not mine.

BC Text Compare and Data Compare sort orders fail to accord. Is this by design?

The Sort file format for Text Compare included with BC3 for Windows is using the built-in Windows sorting method, and is the same method as BC2. If you would like to customize this behavior you can create a file format that uses any sorting program you would like. An example can be found here:
            http://www.scootersoftware.com/suppo...rnalconversion

We'd appreciate any alternate suggestions if you find a sort program that works better for you. If possible, we may be able to include it in our list of additional file formats available for download.

Our Data Compare is not using an external method for sorting; the sort is internal and independent of the External Conversion (used for converting Excel files, etc).

Thanks, but what I'd like is Text Compare to use the same successful sorting method as Data Compare. Could you add this to the wishlist please?
