  • Compare files with similar names

    Hi everybody,
I need to compare files in two folder with similar names, i.e. one file is "aaa.txt" and the other is "aaa_01.txt".
Folder compare shows every file on two rows and I can't compare contents of two files with the graphical results (red color if different, black if equal)
It should be very confortable, because I have centuries of file and there are only a few differences. If Beyond compare can show me in red only the modified files, it will help me a lot.

Is there a way to ignore the _01 suffix and compare the files with the same name?
    Thanks

If it's a fixed change (_01 added in every file), it is possible to do this with Beyond Compare 3 Pro, but not Standard.

    Example:

    aaa.txt aaa_01.txt
    bbb.txt bbb_01.txt
    ccc.txt ccc_01.txt

Load aaa.txt on the left and aaa_01.txt folder on the right.
    Select "Session > Session Settings".
Click "New" in the "Alignment overrides" section.
Align left file (or folder): *.*
with right file (or folder): *_01.*
    Click OK.

The filenames should now line up.
