  • Need step-by-step instructions for Dropbox comparison

I have an evaluation copy of Beyond Compare, and read that it can compare the contents of a Dropbox folder online to that of a folder on a PC, to ensure that all files have transferred (something that isn't happening with Google Drive, hence my need for a new solution). I see in Help that I need to use a profile to do this, but I can't find instructions on exactly what to do. I created a Dropbox profile, authenticated/linked it to my online Dropbox account, but can't figure out what to do next. I've looked in Help, FAQs and searched the forum, but can't find either detailed instructions or a sample Dropbox profile.
Sorry to ask such a basic question, but I'd really like this to work! Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

    Thanks for posting.

If you open a new, blank Folder Compare session, you'll see two folder paths at the top of the screen. Next to these are Browse buttons, where you can click the dropdown arrow and select to Browse Using Profile. You can now select and load your saved dropbox profile. Once loaded, you can also note the profile://profile name syntax we use, which can be directly typed in as well.

This would load the remote dropbox on one side, and you can then load another location, such as a local folder, on the other. Once both sides are loaded, the current comparison criteria (defined in the Session menu -> Session Settings, Comparison tab) is used for all aligned items.

If you are new to BC, I would recommend our overview tutorial videos to help with the general interface as well:

Oh, well, shoot, I'm sorry, I should have seen that. Thank you for a very patient answer, and yes, I'll look at the tutorials. Everything else was very intuitive. Thank you!
(Unfortunately, the comparison revealed that DropBox hasn't uploaded all my files, which is very annoying.)
