  • Default program to open .diff and .patch files

BC4 can now View Patch files, but it seems not to be registered with Windows as a default program to handle these file extensions.

Apparently it's quite easy to change it manually. I selected "Open with -> Choose a default program" in the Windows Explorer context menu of a .diff and .patch file. Then selected BCompare.exe.

But shouldn't BC register this automatically on installation? (Or it asked and I declined at the time?)

    Hello,

While we have a View Patch tool, we let the user decide the default behavior. We also have a Text Edit for single file text editing, but only claim our proprietary extensions (.bcpkg and .bcss) when installing.

Thanks for your reply. Letting the user decide is actually very considerate, thanks!
