BC v4.1.3 hangs when saving Snapshots with Archive content

Hello,
That sounds like an issue with specific archives that might have trouble. Or, if the archives are large, this step requires unpacking every archive to be included in the snapshot, which may take a long time if they are large.
If you limit your snapshot folder to a smaller subset (fewer files), does this help you find which archives are having trouble or taking a long time?Aaron P Scooter Software

1. It worked in the previous versions I tried.
2. I waited 12 hours.
3. BC crashes (or rather hangs) when I try to snapshot all folders and all archives. When I divide the snapshots into subsets of only a handful folders (and make 10 snapshots of the subsets) then it works. If I try to snapshot everything at once, BC hangs.
4. BC hangs in the very moment it encounters a .rar (MacOS winrar, can't upload it here, 185KB = too big) within a .rar (Windows Winrar) file and reports it as "Unable to load (..) Archive header broken". The Archive itself, depite BC's error message, is not broken, I can unpack it.
5. BC reports the same error, but doesn't hang when I snapshot the subsets of folders.
6. Is there any option to limit the depth of archives in archives to "1"?

Thanks. Let me try to understand each of these points:
1. Which previous version were you running? Earlier versions had less archive support, so a new archive type might have been added, causing a new archive to expand (and fail) that was not hit originally.
2. That's certainly awhile to wait. Thanks for the extensive trial.
3. Good to know. So there is not a single file triggering this issue; the total size of the snapshot is the issue?
4. Is any .rar within a .rar causing the crash during the snapshot? You can email us the sample file to [email protected]. Please include a link back to this forum thread for our reference in the email. I created a similar sample file but my rar within a rar expands. I do see an issue with an archive within a rar within a rar, but it creates an error, not a hang or crash.
5. Ok, and this is why point 4 does not contradict 3? These files throw an error but don't cause a crash or hang if just viewing a subset folder, but if you snapshot or compare the full folder structure these seem to be the problem files?
6. Not directly, but you could use a File Name filter to limit the depth or files included or excluded.Aaron P Scooter Software

This is the file that causes problems. I can unpack it with winrar.
Please add an option to limit the archive depthLast edited by knnknn; 31-Dec-2015, 04:36 PM.
