  • Feature request: Add new predefined list of files in the filter ComboBox, for Picture

Hello! Now, in BC v4.x there are four sets of groups (of extensions), available to be selected (C++, HTML, Java or Delphi source code).
I would like to be able to select a list with most of the pictures formats.
Can this be added in a "filter list" configuration file somewhere? Thank you!

Yes, you can create a syntax string in the File Filter toolbar for your picture files (using *.ext with ; delimited list). Then you can create a new permanent mask in the Tools menu -> Options, Tweaks section, scroll to the bottom, and add a new File Mask with title and the mask value.

Thank you for your quick response.
I might be confused with the list of extensions in the "Misc" tab, in the "filter" dialog window, where you can see a lot of extensions and titles associated.
Why not having the same list available in the ComboBox?

        Hello,

The dropdown can in the main view can be directly typed in or populated automatically after editing the Session menu -> Session Settings, Name Filters tab.

In the Session Settings, Misc tab, Enabled File Formats section, this is a list of enabled rules-based formats to be used for the comparison; you could disable rules here, but this doesn't determine if the files are visible but rather how they are compared. This dialog lets individual sessions use a specific rule over another, since you could have multiple formats for the same extension, each comparing the files differently.

The Filters combo box is an MRU list of the last used filters, which allows a user to quickly toggle between any filters that have been typed or entered in the Session Settings, Name Filters tab. Additionally, you can add permanent items to the dropdown in our Tweaks dialog.

Thank you very much for your reply. Very clear and easy.
          Let me kindly suggest
          1) add the list of extensions to the default list of four values. Find the default extensions filter "by pictures", makes sense, as lot of users use BC for that!
          2) add the text of the previous post, above, to the online help to get a detailed explanation of the differences.
Thank you very much for your great support!
