Text Compare - highlight of minor character diff

The highlight of the minor differing character to the left of caret is virtually invisible.



I can find no way to change the space display to e.g. ␣ , or the character background colour.

Solutions?

PS Is "Button shadow" here http://i.imgur.com/JSy8TPa.png really intended?

I do not see a caret ^ character in the above screenshot. Which line are you referencing?

If you are talking about the visible whitespace minor difference as a single dot, that is the intentional character. It's color is controlled by the Unimportant Difference color in the Colors/Fonts section of the Options dialog. You can add a color of Text Background if you need help seeing the changes.

Yes, the Button Shadow color was picked on purpose for readability.

I'd never have guessed "Text background"'s effect from that label, given that text background is controlled by "Background" above that. Also odd is that one of the colour control is labelled color and the others aren't.

I suggest better would be "Character foreground color:" "Line background color:" and "Character background color:" respectively. No ambiguity there.
